THE GOA PANCHAYAT RAJ ACT, 1994

the Goa Panchayat Raj Act of 1994, was enacted to empower local self-governance in rural areas. It aims to decentralize power and involve people at the grassroots level in decision-making and governance. The Act provides a three-tier system comprising the Village Panchayat, the Block Panchayat (Panchayat Samiti), and the Zilla Panchayat.

The Act includes provisions for the election of Panchayat members, reservation of seats for women and other socially disadvantaged groups, and guidelines for financial management and development planning in rural areas. It aims to promote local self-governance and enhance the participation of rural communities in their development.
